RE: Roofing Materials & Experiences
We hope this letter will save someone experiencing some of the aggravation, expense, internal damages and headaches we have experienced using asphalt shingles.
Our home was built in 1984 and Its roof finished with asphalt shingles. Within 10 years we started to experience leaking around flashing's resulting in a rosewood chest having to be refinished and stippled ceilings in several areas of our home having to be repainted. By 1995 we reluctantly gave in to the realization our roof needed replacing and started shopping for a new roof. In May 1996 we re-roofed our 11 % year old home using IKO's "Aristocrat" asphalt shingle which is rated at 25 years (cost $3321.28). Unfortunately, when the roofing contractor ordered the shingles they did not order enough and the finished roof ended up with a distinctly different colored patch at the front of our very long roof which extends from the peak of our house to the front of the garage. At the time I was assured a year of sun bleaching should rectify the color variation, but if it didn't I was to call them to arrange to have it rectified.
One year later our "new" roof still looked "patched" and a call was made to the roofing company who arranged a meeting with a senior representative of IKO, the president of the roofing company and myself. Following that meeting I received a letter from IKO telling me the guarantee did not cover "color". The IKO letter Included an offer of approximately $500.00 so that I could deal with MY problem on my one year old, Aristocrat (26 year) shingle roof. Upon receipt of that letter I contacted the roofing contractor, told them about the letter and informed them they would not be hearing from me again but would hear from a lawyer on my behalf. Boy. did that get things happening! Fortunately for us. the roofing contractor stood by us and the "color" matter was satisfactorily resolved by November 1997. Unfortunately, we experienced major interior leaking in December 1997 following a very wet heavy snow. The leaking was so bad it was "raining" from the light in our front entrance and our front door froze shut! The end result to us was more inconvenience, more damage, more shabby cosmetic repairs by a fellow provided by the roofing contractor but at last it looked like our roofing problems were behind us.
In July of 1998 Northwest Calgary was hit by a severe hail storm. My husband's worse fear was the storm would have knocked 15 of the 25 years off the life our "new roof". That storm obliterated our roof and the insurance adjuster's first comment was that the roof would need replacing. During the summer and fall of 1998 it was almost impossible to get a roof installed and we seriously questioned the quality of work that we saw around us.
February of 1999 arrived with us still in need of a new roof so we went roof shopping at The Home and Garden Show where we met Ted Rector of Interlock Industries (Alberta) Ltd. Several of Interlocks competitors couldn't even be bothered to take the time to talk to us. Those that did talk to us were selling asphalt (paper or fiberglass) shingles. Within a week Ted came to our home and we had arranged to get a roof to finally solve our problems.
Our new roof tile in charcoal grey) is now on our home. We love the look! The installers were a super group of very considerate fellows. Clean-up by Interlocks installers was very thorough. I wish all of our roofing experiences could have been as pleasant as our dealings thus far with Interlock and its representatives!

Dear John,
Joanne and I are very pleased with the performance and features of the Interlock Roofing System. Not only does it look great, it has proven its worth during the last two winters. As you may know, the Waterton area is quite windy in the winter and this year we experienced winds gusting to over 200 km per hour. While our neighbours are out gluing and nailing down their asphalt shingles, we're sitting home relaxing without worrying about our roof.
We have mentioned our satisfaction to many people in the area and hopefully we are able to send new customers your way. We have many high quality pictures of our home so if you would like to review the images, please don't hesitate to contact us. We would be honored if you would choose one of the pictures for your promotional literature.
Yours very sincerely,
Stephen & Joanne Harrtagton

Drip, drip, drip. This is not a sound you want to hear at 3:30 am... in bed... coming from your attic... in the dead of winter. A quick peek in the attic confirmed my worst fears, the ice dam on the roof was allowing melted water to seep through the crappy asphalt shingles and into the house. We called a local contractor and had the ice dam removed, but this didn't fix the underlying problem that our current roof was cheap and damaged. My wife and I moved into a beautiful three story brick tudor on Madison's near west side in the fall of 06'. It was perfect in that it had been beautifully remodled with gorgeous woodwork, marble, stunning attention to detail, with the exception of the roof.
We had decided that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, this was the house we were going to stay in until retirement, so why not invest in a metal roof. After a couple of weeks of research and interviewing we settled on Interlock. Part of the choice was made on the quality of the product and part was made on the salesmanship of the rep, Chuck.
Work started and except for some problems with the weather, things progressed smoothly. We were especially impressed with the steps the crew took in regards to safety and our stay-at-home neighbor told us about how exciting the crew was, "you're definitely getting your monies worth", was her exact quote. At the end of the job the crew even emptied out all the trash that we had pulled out of the attic for us. Now that's service!
After everything is said and done we've been able to cap off our gorgeous house with an equally gorgeous roof.
Thank's Interlock!

Dear Gerry,
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren’t looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn’t remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign.
A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like slate! Wouldn’t that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock different from other materials and the lifetime warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof my cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again.
Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own.
Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Sincerely Yours, Bryan Brandriff Eastford, CT

I had an Interlock roof put on my house recently. I am pleased with it. The color of the roof matches my house nicely. Your employees did a good job of cleaning up the debris, especially considering the fact that one half of my existing roof had to be stripped of its existing two layers of asphalt shingles. I would recommend this roof to ethers for these reasons and also for the following reasons:
When I bought my house over 4 years ago it was 10 years old and had an asphalt roof, The home inspector who looked at the house noticed that a few of the shingles were lifting and that there were some gaps in the chimney flashing that he said were consistent with normal wear and tear over the years. When I hired a contractor to make repairs I was surprised to learn from him that many of the asphalt shingles were cracked and that one half of the roof would need to be re-shingled, My mother and I have since heard from several sources that during the 1930s there were problems with bad batches of asphalt roofing shingles being manufactured,
Earlier this year I had a minor roof leak in the half of the roof that was not re-shingled. The contractor who repaired it said that this half of the roof would probably last 3 or 4 more years, I've heard that an asphalt roof could last for 20 years but this was not the case with my house,
I clearly wanted a roof that would last a good long time and wanted an alternative to asphalt shingles. I chose Interlock primarily because it is guaranteed for the life of the house. I also like Interlock for other reasons as well.
The aluminum shingles interlock with each other on all sides. This prevents the shingles from lifting over time a problem that I had with the previous asphalt roof on my house,
I've heard that Interlock roofs are more energy efficient than other roofs. Energy efficiency is important to me and should be to everyone in this day and age and in the future to come.
Finally, another reason that I like Interlock roofing is for safety reasons While installing any roof on a house involves unavoidable safety risks to the roofing installers, because of Interlocks lifetime guarantee no one should have to go up on the roof again once it is installed. During the life of a house this reduces the amount of time that the safety of individuals who work on the roof of the house is at risk. With asphalt roofing on a house that requires replacing ever the years of the house's life there is increased risk of a roofing installer working on the roof of that house getting hurt,
Sincerely,
Michael G. Casey

Mr. Brad Reagh
Today, the Interlock Roofing installers have completed the installation of a great looking roof on our home, 2005,12,12.
Later in the month of September 2005 as I was standing on the deck of my home, enjoying the Autumn air, I noticed that one of my neighbors was having a new roof installed on their home.
This roof definitely appeared to look much different than the ordinary asphalt shingles that are prevalent on most homes. So, I needed to get a closer look. As I came to the home where the roof was being installed, I thought, boy, this is really "extra ordinary"........and I liked what I had seen. I enquired of the installers to know more about the product, I was informed that I should leave my name and phone number, and a representative would contact me.
Within a few days I received a phone call from Mr. Brad Reagh (local Interlock representative) and an appointment was set, so we could be informed more about the product. Our roof at that time was asphalt shingles, which were beginning to curl in some areas (mainly the South side) of the roof. I new that we'd be lucky if we could get about one more years wear, without replacing the roof.
The job was professionally completed by Interlock Roofing trained installers. There's no doubt in my mind but what the value of our property has risen considerably, however, we are anticipating enjoying our home for many years to come. At this point it's to early to notice any changes to our home.........except the roof certainly helps to enhance the beauty of our home. We have already had some very positive comments from some of our neighbours.
If you might be considering a new roof on your home, I would truly recommend that you listen to Mr. Reagh........he really knows all there is to know about roofing. Mr. Reagh is representing the best roofing product that's on the market today. I really wanted the best roof installed, because I didn't want to be having to redo my roof again in a few years. We now have peace of mind, in knowing that we have the best roof that's available.
Sincerely,
Keith and Priscilla Payne 97 Heritage Cres. West Lethbridge, Alberta

Dear Sirs,
To quote from TS Eliot, “Home is where one starts from.” And our home needed a kick to start it again!
We built our home 12 years ago, but our roof was already showing real signs that we needed to replace it, as the shingles where curling, slipping out of place and although not causing leaks at the time it surely would have. The way our home is situated on our lot, it gets total New York weather. There is also “a lot” of roof in the front, so we needed it to look incredible as well.
We had looked into Interlock a year prior, but with children and careers, sometimes if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! But a year later we knew that our roof was the first project on our list to get attention. We got in touch with Interlock, and that is the best decision we have made!
Our initial visit with Dan was pleasant, not pressure packed to purchase on the spot, as we had done our research. The cost to re-roof with asphalt shingles at this time, plus the possibility of having to do another 12-15 years versus the price presented to us go with Interlock AND NEVER ROOF AGAIN was well within our budget! We decided that meeting to go with Interlock.
We received updates on our order process at each step, from the order being received to when the order was being shipped. The kept us informed and provided excellent customer service.
Our roofing system went on ahead of schedule and the installers were excellent! Nick and Serge were pleasant, extremely hard workers and cleaned up the site each night! They were a pleasure to have around!
Our home is beautiful, again! We have a company to back up our roofing system and feel that going with Interlock was the best decision we have made!
Thank you so much for having such quality employees, for your communication and for brining peace of mind to us!
Sincerely, Connie and Bruce Harris Amesbury, MA 01913

Dear Mr. Yaniv,
No more problems with moss and lichens, like I had with the asphalt shingles. I am extremely happy with my new Interlock Roofing System and to think it has a lifetime warranty. There have been several rainstorms that last couple of weeks and to me the metal roof had added no additional noise at all. The flat roof is also a welcomed addition. The material quality is tip-notch throughout. A flat roof will normally wear out first; however, this also comes with a lifetime warranty. I have been impressed with Interlock from my first awareness at the local home show. I also did investigation through the Better Business Bureau. During all interaction with Interlock, employees have been professional and courteous.
The sales presentations were very informative. I was also able to visit half dozen houses locally that had had Interlock Roofing Systems installed. The benefits of the Interlock roof over an asphalt roof are numerous. In these days of rising energy costs and the high price of fuel, the expected energy savings are welcome. I will also be able to take advantage of the energy credit on my taxes this year. The fact that the roofing material deflects the heat versus absorbing it will make the house cooler during the summer months.
Working with the installation team of Finn and Alex was a delight. The attention they gave to making sure things were done right was greatly appreciated. From the moment they arrived in the morning, till they went home at night, they were constantly working. During the installation period, there were several rainstorms. Alex and Finn always made sure they had things buttoned up before the storm started. We were lucky enough to get a couple of good days and they took advantage of them by working between 10 and 11 hours those days. If I saw anything that I did not like, it was quickly addressed or the explanation was given why it had to be done that way. The answer was always acceptable to me. They took the time to help me understand the various installation tasks. The longevity of Finn and Alex’s careers with Interlock are testimony to Interlock as a company, their product knowledge and experience levels, and work quality.
I would highly recommend Interlock Industries roofs to others.
Sincerely, Tom Brown Westborough, MA
