To Whom it May Concern:
I just wanted to write this note to thank you for our new roof. When we first bought this house 3 years ago we knew that we would need a new roof soon. When we got in touch with Interlock Industries our roofing problems were solved. We were tired of going up on the roof year after year trying to repair the old shingles. After every storm shingles would blow off and end up scattered all over the yard. Now our troubles are over for LIFE!!! The high cost is worth not having to go up there and try to make repairs that would just blow away with the next high winds, I also love the fact that the snow just falls right off with out any effort from us having to push it off. I was a little worried about the rain and how loud it would be but I haven't been able to notice any big difference in sound at all.
I wanted to thank the crew that installed the roof as well. They did a great job and they were very personable people that knew what they were doing. The job was done in a very timely manner. I was actually shocked at how soon the product was delivered and then installed. Thank you Interlock Industries for this roof of a lifetime! We are very happy with the outcome and if we do end up buying another house we would definitely have one of these roofs installed on it as well.
Thank you,
Jenni-Lynn Ashley and Levi Gervais

I have read your recent issue which included a section about roofing materials. I was surprised your excellent publication did not include information about aluminum metal roofs in that section. We recently had one installed and are quite pleased with the appearance. Our roof was installed by Interlock Industries, based in Vancouver. Their shingles come in many colors and somewhat resemble the look of an asphalt shingle roof.
However, unlike asphalt shingle and other roofing types, our roof has a lifetime, non-prorated, fully transferable factory warranty. It is fireproof, rot proof, energy efficient and can withstand winds in excess of 100mph.
The cost per square foot is more expensive than asphalt shingle but not much more expensive than a 30 year warranted asphalt roof.
Much has been written concerning the rapid deterioration of today's asphalt roofs and I would suspect your readers would be interested in learning more. And, no, we don't hear "pitter patter" when it rains!

Introduction
When choosing a new roof most homeowners desire a roof that is not too expensive, requires no maintenance and lasts forever. Should be simple, right? Not necessarily. With all of the roofing options out there the process can get complicated.
An average roof is replaced or repaired in as little as 8 to 10 years. Choosing the correct roofing material for your home from the start is critical in order to minimize the long-term costs, as well as the environmental damage caused by having made the wrong choice and needing to re-roof over in a few years.
Now that you know you need a new roof, it is the perfect time to make some changes that could benefit you in the long run. Choosing the correct material to roof your home can lower your energy costs, while increasing your homes curb appeal.
Also don’t forget that your roof is your first line of defense against the weather. So, choose ahead of time a roof that is durable and won’t fail in extreme weather conditions, just when you need it most.
Following below are the benefits and drawbacks of some common roofing materials. Composition Shingles, Clay Tile and Slate, Wood Shingle and Shakes and Metal.
Asphalt Composition Shingle Roofing
Composition shingles are the most common roofing material in North America. They are commonly made of either fiberglass or recycled paper based products mixed with asphalt, which is then covered with colored mineral granules. While they have a low installation cost, composition shingles will usually protect your home for about 10-15 years. Some composition roofs require maintenance or repair in as little as 8 years.
This material can be easily damaged by high winds, causing the shingles to blow off. High heat, heavy rains and other weather factors can cause curling, cracking and streaking of the shingles, which deteriorates your roof’s appearance and effectiveness. An average home with composition shingles will have to be re-roofed many times over its lifetime, creating waste that will need to be disposed of in the environment.
Clay Tile & Slate Roofing
Clay tile and slate is commonly chosen for its appearance. Tile is often chosen for the ability to provide homes with a southwestern, Italian or Spanish Mission look, and slate is often seen on more upscale homes. They are natural substances that won’t burn or be as affected by the elements or insects as would organic material. However, they are extremely heavy and cause significant stress on your home’s structure. This puts your home at risk in the event of seismic activity or weakness caused by fire. Installing clay tile or slate on an average home can be very expensive due to the complicated nature of the installation and the cost of the material itself. One common finding when installing clay tile or slate is that extra roof support systems are needed due to the extremely high weight of these materials. Even with the added support the weight of these materials can contribute to total building collapse in the event of structural fire or earthquake. It should also be noted that both tile and slate are very fragile, as they can crack and break if walked on. This can make regular maintenance such as cleaning out gutters or painting difficult. If the tiles loosen in high wind situations, they may blow loose and cause damage to other structures. Colors can fade significantly over time and there is a high cost associated with replacing them.

Colours can fade significantly over time and there is a high cost associated with replacing them.
Wood Shingles and Shake Roofing
Wood shingles and shakes provide a natural look to your home. They are commonly made out of cedar, red wood or cypress.
Installing wood shingles or shakes is complicated and should only be undertaken by a professional. These materials are generally chosen for looks and not durability. Unlike 25 years ago, modern wood products are typically being manufactured from second growth wood, which means the wood can become brittle, and shrink, causing the roof to be compromised. This is due to the fact that the growth ring count in second growth trees is significantly less than old growth trees, causing reduced strength.
There is also a high level of maintenance to monitor as mold, rot; insects and rodents can be a problem leading to costly repairs. Finally many wood roofing materials are unrated by fire safety codes.
Metal Roofing
Today’s metal roofing can provide you with any style or color that would complement your home perfectly. Aluminum can be shaped to look like Tile, Slate, Shingle or Shake.
While the initial cost of a metal roof is higher then some other roofing materials, it can save you money in the long run. In some states due to the high impact resistance to hail for example, a metal roof can lower your homeowners insurance.
Metal will also not be affected by other extreme weather the way other organic roofing materials will, as aluminum won’t deteriorate. With the lightweight benefits of metal your roof won’t need a heavy-duty truss or structure system for installing.
Metal roofing can decrease the chances of roof collapse, during earthquake or fire damage. Metal roofing products protect your home from sparks due to flying embers should fire threaten.
Conclusion
Composition shingles are an inexpensive option for your home in the short term. However the need to re-roof over time can make this an expensive option over time.
Clay tile and slate looks beautiful and can provide your home with a traditional and classic appearance, but the initial expense and fragility of this product can make this choice more expensive then just the initial investment. The heavy weight of this material adds some concern of structural safety in the event of an earthquake or fire.
Wood shingle and shake will give your home a natural appearance. In some areas wood is no longer allowed due to the danger of wildfires spreading among neighborhoods. With the product being produced today out of second growth wood, it is more susceptible to becoming brittle and shrinking then the wood shingles and shakes of years ago.
Metal roofing can provide your home with the look of any other common roofing material. The initial expense of installing this product on your home is quickly realized as a solid investment, as this product eliminates the need for future re-roofing and maintenance. And, modern metal roofing systems retain their appearance and color for decades.
Aluminum Metal roofing is an environmentally sound choice, since it reduces the homeowners’ environmental footprint. This is due to the fact that aluminum roofing is made from recycled products, and can be totally recycled again and again, causing no further environmental waste. Landfills are therefore spared the huge waste that comes with the disposal of temporary roofing materials.
Now that you have the pros and cons of common roofing materials, you will be able to make an informed decision when it comes to protecting your home for years to come

Dear Gerry,
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren’t looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn’t remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign.
A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like slate! Wouldn’t that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock different from other materials and the lifetime warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof my cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again.
Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own.
Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Sincerely Yours, Bryan Brandriff Eastford, CT

We moved to Coaldale in July of 2004 from Medicine Hat and knew that the roof would need to be replaced in the next year or so.
We had seen Interlock at the Home and Garden Show in Medicine Hat in 2003 and 2004. We also looked at two of the houses that Interlock had done in Medicine Hat. We got Brad to come into our house at our convenience to give us the whole demonstration. After comparing cost, warranty, value, weight, and looks of the Interlock compared to asphalt, and tiles, we decided on Interlock. You're probably asking yourself, why Interlock? We liked the idea of never having to replace the roof again, the lifetime (transferable) warranty, we absolutely love the aged copper color that we chose.
Installation took four days that is for a thousand square foot home and a double car garage. The installer was friendly and courteous. When I had to make the decision of taking the gutters off or leaving them on, he explained all the pros and cons, so I could make my decision. He cleaned up after each day was done, and at the end he hauled all the garbage to the dump.
The financing with Interlock was done without headaches. All we had to do was fax a few papers to the bank and everything was done.
Considering that the installation was done while my husband was out of town, I felt at ease during the whole process.
I would recommend Interlock to anyone with hesitation.

For me the change to a metal roof is something I have thought about for some time as I have had nothing but problems with new asphalt put on ten years ago. Ice dams and leaks have been a problem from the beginning of which I thought taking off the gutter would help. Next was to pay to have a three foot, piece of aluminum put in along the length of the roof, result, snow dams above the aluminum strip. The next thing to try was electric wires, which were somewhat successful, but meant taking down and putting up yearly. At the age of 54, to be on a ladder dealing with wires and ice dams is okay, but how about 64 or 74. Some new way to roof had to be the answer. In New Hampshire where my brother and I have a summer place, a new cabin was being built and it had the long metal panels which didn't look to bad but planted. The idea that an option was out there. Interlock was the better choice for a metal type roof and looks better to.
The cost of snow seal and new shingles, stripping off two layers, the cost of recycling in twenty years, led me to see that a non asphalt does cost more initially, but how about in the long run? Probably not. With my new Interlock Roof, time spent on the roof, don't see any need, snow dams, snow slides off. No need for roof rake or wires. Loudness in the rain, not noticeable. Appearance, looks great. With this roofing - problem solved, it's on to other needed repairs. Thanks Interlock. Sincerely,
Daniel Raske

Recently my wife and I came to the conclusion that we really could not put off replacing our roof much longer and so we started researching materials and costs. During the time we were doing our research we ran across Interlock representative, Brad Reagh, at the Lethbridge Home and Garden Show at which he explained the Interlock Roofing System to us. We were impressed with what Brad had to say and consequently we invited him to our house to have a look at the problem and give us an idea of what it would cost to have our roof done. After talking with Brad the second time, we both decided that the advantages of this roof far outweighed the fact that it was going to cost more than an asphalt shingle roof. How do you say no to a 50 year warranty?
Well, now our new roof is on the house we both feel it was one of our better decision regarding our home. The rood looks beautiful. The entire process was very straight forward and painless. People showed up when they said they would show up, the installer was an absolute professional, Brad kept track of the entire process and there were no hidden charges. We have already had a Realtor inform us that the new roof will definitely increase the value of our house.
In short, I would strongly recommend that anyone in need of a new roof give very serious consideration to Brad and the Interlock Roofing System.
We have been extremely impressed with the integrity and professionalism of the installer. First Class!
From our first conversation with Brad through completion of our new roof, we have had a high level of confidence in Interlock, their roof system, and most importantly, their people!

I wish to thank Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing syste. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again.
I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work.
I know this roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct.
The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys.
I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term cost is less than another roof system.

Dear Sir,
We recently had your Interlock Roofing System installed on our home. It has now been about 3 months since the roof was installed. We receive many compliments on how beautiful the roof looks. Your installers were polite, fast, cleaned up the area daily and did a full clean up after the job was completed.
My wife and I discussed installing a metal roofing system because of the many advantages of a metal roofing system. We did not want a system like the ones everyone sees on old barns, (straight panels). We were looking for an attractive looking system that would add curb appeal to our home.
We decided to go to one of the local home shows to see what types of roofing systems were available. That's when we found your company. I had seen various style metal roofs on home TV shows, but none of them matched the interlocking panel system like yours.
The shingles not only interlock with each other but they are also nailed into the roof deck for a good solid roofing system.
I work at a local College as the Manager of Building Services. I am responsible for maintenance of many difference types of buildings and roofs. I have seen the amount of damage caused by water, snow, ice and wind. So when deciding what type of roof we should install on the largest investment anyone purchases in their lifetime (a house), we decided to invest in a metal roof which we will never have to worry about again.
The advantages of the metal roof are easy to understand and see. Interlock roof system will keep your home cooler during summer months, warmer during winter month, eliminates ice jams, keeps your heating and cooling costs down and looks great year round. While keeping your house safe from water, ice, snow and wind damages.
The most often asked question since we had this roof installed was, Isn't it noisy when it rains? I want to tell you, that we have had many heavy down pours and you can not hear the rain, even during the hardest rainstorms. It is not any louder than any other roofing system.
Our off white house has blue awnings and blue shutters so when my wife saw the blue color offered in your brochure, she fell in love with it and decided it would match our house nicely, and she was right. My niece came over to see the new roof and said the house looks like it's brand new, our house was built in 1954.
We have people drive by the house and they literally stop to admire how great the house looks. When we're out in the yard people blow their horn and yell "the roof looks great".
Purchasing a metal roof is more expensive but you'll never spend another penny on your roof again. You'll never have to listen to people pounding nails while you're trying to relax after you returning home from work. You won't have to worry about coming up with the expensive cost of replacing a roof on your home after you retire. All of these reasons are just part of why we invested in installing the roofing system that will be still on our home after we are gone. Not to mention it has a full replacement warranty transferable to the next owner should you ever decide to sell your house.
We believe it adds curb appeal to your home, saves you money on utilities, increases the value of your house and you will never have to replace it for as long as you live.
If you look at the cost to install a conventional asphalt shingled roof, which you will probably have to invest in twice in your lifetime, coupled up with the cost of disposal for stripping your old roofing system. I believe you will find it will cost about the same monies in the long run and you will not be inconvenienced by construction noise while your roof is being replaced again for second or third time.
I believe this is the best investment we have made next to the purchase of our house.
This message is for anyone who is considering investing in a metal roof. Spend the little extra on the roof that will protect your most costly investment you will ever make and never have to worry about it again. How can you possibly consider any other roofing system?
Sincerely, Michael Fern

Dear Sirs,
To quote from TS Eliot, “Home is where one starts from.” And our home needed a kick to start it again!
We built our home 12 years ago, but our roof was already showing real signs that we needed to replace it, as the shingles where curling, slipping out of place and although not causing leaks at the time it surely would have. The way our home is situated on our lot, it gets total New York weather. There is also “a lot” of roof in the front, so we needed it to look incredible as well.
We had looked into Interlock a year prior, but with children and careers, sometimes if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! But a year later we knew that our roof was the first project on our list to get attention. We got in touch with Interlock, and that is the best decision we have made!
Our initial visit with Dan was pleasant, not pressure packed to purchase on the spot, as we had done our research. The cost to re-roof with asphalt shingles at this time, plus the possibility of having to do another 12-15 years versus the price presented to us go with Interlock AND NEVER ROOF AGAIN was well within our budget! We decided that meeting to go with Interlock.
We received updates on our order process at each step, from the order being received to when the order was being shipped. The kept us informed and provided excellent customer service.
Our roofing system went on ahead of schedule and the installers were excellent! Nick and Serge were pleasant, extremely hard workers and cleaned up the site each night! They were a pleasure to have around!
Our home is beautiful, again! We have a company to back up our roofing system and feel that going with Interlock was the best decision we have made!
Thank you so much for having such quality employees, for your communication and for brining peace of mind to us!
Sincerely, Connie and Bruce Harris Amesbury, MA 01913
